Meet Our Staff

My journey in the insurance industry began in 1985, thanks to the encouragement of my father, Ismael Rangel Sr., a dedicated and successful debit life insurance agent. At the time, I was working as a meat cutter, and with the store I worked at preparing to close, I decided to take a leap of faith and give life insurance a try. I spent the next seven years with American National Insurance Company, gaining valuable experience and a deep appreciation for helping people protect what matters most.

In 1993, I accepted a position with State Farm agent Dan Lloyd here in Del Rio, where I learned the ins and outs of property and casualty insurance. During my ten years with Mr. Lloyd, I earned my general lines and life insurance licenses, and in 2003, I was accepted into the State Farm Agent Internship Program. That opportunity led me to open my own agency in Laredo, Texas, where I proudly served the community for four years.

In 2006, I returned home to Del Rio and founded Rangel Insurance Agency. In the beginning, I wore every hat—owner, agent, staff, and janitor. Like many small businesses, the early years were tough, but with the unwavering support of my wife, Diana, we persevered and grew. I’m especially grateful to our daughter, Karina, who joined the agency in 2015. She’s become my right hand and a true asset to our team.

Outside the office, I’m a proud father to Karina and Alex—our son who works for Apple in Austin—and a grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren. When we’re not working Diana and I enjoy traveling, going to classic rock concerts, admiring vintage cars, and spending quality time with our family.

I began my journey in the insurance world in 2015 after moving back to Del Rio after a few years of living in other areas of the country. At the time, I wasn’t sure if this career path was the right fit—but years later, I’m proud to say it’s become something I’ve truly enjoyed. As a third-generation insurance agent, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a family-owned business that has grown steadily, thanks to the trust of our community and the strong foundation my dad, Juan,  worked so hard to build.

I’m licensed in Property & Casualty as well as Life & Health in the state of Texas, and I take great pride in helping clients feel protected, informed, and genuinely cared for. At our office, we’re all about relationships—and we strive to make every visit feel welcoming and personal.

Outside the office, you’ll usually find me cheering on my daughters at their all-star cheer gym, playing chauffeur for school activities, or team-momming for one of their many sports. I also have a son who has already graduated but also lucky enough that he chose to live just a short drive away, so visits are often and valuable. When I’m not on “mom duty,” I love spending time at our San Felipe Creek, relaxing and recharging with the people I love most.

I first joined Rangel Insurance in 2013 and, after a brief three-year break, I’m back for good — and proud to be part of the team once again. Providing excellent customer service is my top priority. I do everything I can to make sure our clients feel heard, supported, and taken care of.

Born and raised in Del Rio, I have deep roots in this community and truly value the relationships we build here. When I’m not at work, you’ll most likely find me in the kitchen cooking or baking (usually with music playing way too loud) or spending quality time with my kids and family — my greatest joy.

I was born and raised in Del Rio and proudly graduated with the Del Rio High School Class of 1979. With over 40 years of experience in sales and management, I’ve had the pleasure of working with—and learning from—so many wonderful people throughout my career. I spent 14 years as the store manager at the Del Rio SAS Shoe Store, where I built lasting relationships with both customers and coworkers. I also worked at a women’s shelter, where I found deep fulfillment in helping families navigate some of life’s most challenging moments.

I’ve been married to Juan I. Rangel, owner and agent at Rangel Insurance Agency, for over 40 years. Together, we’ve raised two wonderful children and are proud grandparents to three beautiful grandchildren. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, listening to music, spending time with family, and trying out new places to eat. I’m also a plant enthusiast and spend a great deal of time and effort tending to them at home and in our office space.
