I began my career in insurance in 1985, when my father, Ismael Rangel, a successful debit life insurance agent, suggested I try selling life insurance. I was a meat cutter at the time, and the store where I worked was going to close, so I decided to give it a go. I sold life insurance for seven years with American National Insurance Company. In 1993, I was offered a position with State Farm agent Dan Lloyd in Del Rio where I learned about property and casualty insurance, studied and got my general lines and life insurance licenses. After ten years with Mr. Lloyd, I began an internship with State Farm and started an agency in Laredo. TX. where I stayed for four years. In 2006, I moved back to Del Rio and opened Rangel Insurance Agency. I was the owner, staff, and janitor. The first few years were rough, but thanks to my wife’s (Diana) support we made it through. I also owe much appreciation to my daughter Karina, who joined our agency in 2015. She is my right hand and has been a great asset to our agency. Besides our daughter Karina, we have a son Alex, who works for Apple in Austin and three grandchildren. We enjoy traveling, attending classic rock concerts, classic cars and family time.
